Flowchart Information
The flow chart is designed to help is identifying organic compounds. It uses standard tests to identify: Primary Alcohols, Secondary Alcohols, Tertiary Alcohols, Aldehydes, Alkenes and Ketones. Not all of the test results are unique to the group specified in the chart, for instance the Bromine Water test for an Alkene will give a positive result for any compound with a double bond. Ketones are only identified on the basis that "they don't seem to be anything else". This is obviously a fairly poor test.
All of the routes lead to the same final box which suggests identification of the precise member of the already identified group could be done by testing the boiling point of the sample. This clearly needs to be done with the consultation of appropriate boiling point listings.
