Gmail Autosave
Gmail Autosave,
originally uploaded by sgd.

Ever been typing an email message and suddenly its simply all gone.

It only ever seems to happen with the really long ones, but anyway now there is a solution.

There is a greasemonkey user script which will automatically save the one that you are writing every so often. Note that like all greasemonkey scripts firefox and the greasemonkey extension are required — both absolutely free of course)

There is a another script too called the Humane Gmail Autosave but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be compatible with the latest version of Gmail. Like what you find with the script — get a whole load more at the full database.

// Update: Gmail have added their own autosave. It doesn’t seem to do anything though.

//Update 2: Some days after Gmail announced the Auto Save, my account has been enabled. It seems to save as soon as you have finished writing. It is fairly neat.

Download Them All

Firefox has its ups, but also its downs. It is generally a simple application and some features are limited.

This is where extensions come in.

You can add as many as you want from literally 1000s and more are made all the time. So the chances are the feature that you want is out there somewhere.

Today I found what I’d been after for a while. DownloadTHEMall lets you download all the links on one page at once.

A real time saver.

Gmail is enhanced yet again.

It seems if there is a feature that Gmail havent introduced yet then someone else has already written a greasemonkey script for it.

This is certainly the case here. Add all you usernames to the script and never have to type them again.

Perfect.

Yahoo! 360

Creepy

I have just been invited to join Yahoo! 360 (well I say invited the reality is slightly different). But anyway I am in, and so far unimpressed.

The pages seem rather bland, with their light shades and the blog looks anything but exciting. Although I should point out I have only galanced at it briefly and I am sure (translated: I damn hope) I’ll find the good bits after a little more exploration.

One thing I did like was the quick switch between the HTML and the WYSIWYG interface in the blog. That is nice.

Major updates in my opinions like: It is really quite good will appear here, but for minor changes see my Yahoo 360 blog.

Meanwhile: Wallop looks very nice.

Thanks to jrhyley for the image.

This represents a change in the style of this blog. Yes I know, again.

From now on I will use the blog with Flickr to make better posts on a weekly (ish) basis.

The first picture is a recurring theme on this blog: the firefox logo. My other posts about firefox include firefox advert, funny fox, any browser and a long article on browser choice.

3 brilliant firefox videos. Like really brilliant. Read all the full details here. They all work similarly and start with a normal situation with someone working at a computer. Then the person’s face freezes (or they scream as pictured) when they realise the power of the firefox browser they are using.

A tag line flahes across the screen and you are invited to download the browser.

Don’t turn them down.

Haloscan

03/05/05 - 22.47

Haloscan commenting and trackback have been added to this blog.”

That is the automatic message posted when the automatic service self-completes. And what a wonderful service it is to use. As others have discussed, and as blogger have admitted the trackback functionality is not supported natively by Blogger.

However with Haloscans tool it can be simply added, as I have done.
