Last night my house was broken into and 4 laptops were stolen. This included my Apple Macbook. Insurance should hopefully cover everything… but in the meantime it is a real bugger.

Flickr have released an amazing new web uploader which doesn’t seem to have got much coverage in the Tech world. It seems to be flash based but it works super smoothly…
Gone are the days of selecting the images one at a time from the web uploader; you can just select a bunch of photos at once and they will zing onto Flickr in no time. The progress is indicated to you in a really snazzy way and once they are uploaded you have lots of options of what to do with them in a much improved post-upload interface.
Credit to the Flickr team for this update. It is much appreciated and I think it irons out the only kink left in Flickr’s solid photo sharing offering. When you look at the smoothness of this uploader and their AJAX organiser you can’t help thinking that Zooomr are headed for Techcrunch’s deadpool anytime soon.
Congratulations to Sebbie. Oxford here you come.
And congratulations to Alex. All the best for Cambridge.
A week or two ago I went on a trip to the Peak district for a coupld of nights camping. Looking around carefully in the local village provided lots of content for slightly amusing photography. Here is a sample selection. Maybe not laugh out loud… but they all made me chuckle.

I’m taking my camera all over with me now and finding more and more slightly funny things everywhere I look. Shots from a trip to Manchester will be up next.
Petty spelling errors. Practice is a noun. Practise is a verb. So you might say for instance that you have to go and practise playing the recorder. But if you wanted to say that you needed more recorder practice you would use the C spelling. In the U.S. I am informed that for either meaning the C spelling is commonly acceptable. So if you are in doubt it is probably best to stick to putting a C in whatever the situation but if you want to be completely “correct” then remember if it’s a verb make it an S.
